FOX is set to launch its own direct-to-consumer streaming service later this year, filling a gap in the U.S. market where it has been the only major network without a streaming platform like Paramount+ or Peacock.
The company has appointed Pete Distad as CEO to lead this new service.
Distad brings significant experience from his previous roles at Apple, Hulu, and Venu Sports. He worked at Apple from 2013 to 2023, overseeing global distribution, video, and sports operations, including Apple TV+.
His deep expertise in streaming and product marketing makes him a strong fit for this role. Distad’s experience also includes overseeing the Disney-Warner Bros-FOX joint venture, Venu Sports, which was recently canceled.
The new FOX streaming platform will offer content from FOX News, FOX Sports, and the FOX broadcast network.
Distad is excited to bring FOX’s popular programming to a wider audience, providing viewers with a differentiated streaming experience beyond traditional pay-TV bundles.
