Vin Diesel has shared a first look at the live-action adaptation of Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots, a classic toy franchise, with a post on Instagram.
The concept art reveals two boxing robots, one green and one red, capturing the essence of the beloved game. The caption, “Childhood dreams coming to life…,” hints at the nostalgic nature of the project.
This update follows the announcement in April 2021 that Universal Pictures, Mattel Films, and Diesel’s One Race Films are collaborating on the film.
The screenplay, written by Ryan Engle (known for Rampage), will focus on the father-son relationship with an advanced war machine, drawing some parallels to the 2011 film Real Steel, but offering its own unique take.
The film’s concept art provides the first real look at the robotic characters, but further details about casting or the production timeline have yet to be revealed.
Given it’s been nearly two years since the last major update, this glimpse might indicate significant developments ahead.
