Samsung’s rumored plans to introduce silicon-carbon battery technology for the Galaxy S26 series may not be happening after all.

A tipster claims that the company’s internal tests show the battery capacity has not even crossed 5,500mAh, despite earlier reports suggesting a possible 7,000mAh battery.

Tipster Doubts Major Battery Upgrade for Galaxy S26 Ultra

The largest battery Samsung has ever used in a Galaxy S series phone is 5,000mAh, a capacity that remained unchanged in the Galaxy S25 Ultra.

According to @PandaFlashPro, Samsung is unlikely to make a significant leap for the Galaxy S26 Ultra, as five of his sources have confirmed that testing has not exceeded 5,500mAh.

Even more specifically, the tipster says the actual tested capacity is only 5,396mAh. He is so confident in his claim that he promised to delete his X account if the Galaxy S26 Ultra ships with a 6,000mAh battery or higher.

Samsung’s Silicon-Carbon Battery Plans Remain Unclear

Earlier reports suggested that Samsung was actively working on silicon-carbon battery materials, which could increase battery capacity without increasing the thickness of devices. This technology would allow for longer battery life while maintaining a slim design.

However, if @PandaFlashPro’s claims are true, Samsung may not introduce this breakthrough with the Galaxy S26 series. That said, a more reliable source previously stated that the company is still involved in developing next-gen battery technology, meaning future models could still see improvements.

What This Means for Samsung’s Flagship Phones

Switching to silicon-carbon batteries could help Samsung extend battery life while keeping its phones thin and light. This could be a key factor in reviving sleek models like the Galaxy S25 Edge, which could benefit from longer screen-on time.

For now, Samsung fans will have to wait and see if the Galaxy S26 Ultra brings any battery capacity improvements. If the tipster’s claims hold, it looks like big battery upgrades may not arrive until later models.
