Samsung Galaxy S25 Becomes First Phone to Support Qi 2.1 Wireless Charging

Published on

The Samsung Galaxy S25 series may not bring major upgrades, but it is the first smartphone lineup to support the Qi 2.1 wireless charging standard.

What’s New with Qi 2.1?

While charging speeds remain unchanged25W for the S25 Ultra and 15W for other models—Qi 2.1 introduces magnetic wireless charging support. This allows for better alignment with charging accessories.

Another key feature is the Automatic Alignment Profile (AAP) for Power Transmitters. This is especially useful for cars with Qi 2.1, as it enables the charging coils to adjust for a secure connection, solving issues caused by camera bumps on smartphones.

When Will Qi 2.1 Cars Arrive?

At the moment, no vehicles support Qi 2.1, but the first models are expected to launch later this year.

The Bottom Line

Samsung’s Galaxy S25 series may not bring faster wireless charging, but it is leading the way in next-gen Qi technology, which could improve charging experiences in the future.
