Tony Yu, General Manager of Asus China, has pushed the RTX 5090D to its limits, achieving a stunning overclock of 3.4 GHz.
The GPU, cooled with liquid nitrogen, consumed 1,000W of power and outperformed dual RTX 3090 Ti and quad GTX 1080 Ti setups in benchmarks.
The RTX 5090D, a China-exclusive model, has similar specs to its global version but is limited by Nvidia to comply with U.S. export restrictions.
Despite these constraints, Yu’s overclocking efforts, including board modifications and liquid nitrogen cooling, allowed the GPU to break world records in 3DMark benchmarks like Port Royal and Fire Strike Ultra.
The RTX 5090D’s GB202 chip, measuring 744mm², is the largest consumer GPU die since the Turing architecture.
High-resolution images of the chip and Samsung’s GDDR7 memory modules were also shared, revealing the Blackwell architecture’s intricate design.
While the overclocked RTX 5090D is 16% faster than its stock version, such extreme performance is impractical for everyday use. However, it sets a new standard for GPU overclocking.
