Synchrony Joins Apple Pay Installment Providers in the US

Apple Pay users in the U.S. briefly gained a new buy-now, pay-later option as Synchrony was added to the list of installment providers.

This update allowed iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 users to select Synchrony under “Other Cards & Pay Later Options” when checking out online or in apps.

Synchrony joined Affirm and Klarna as a financing provider, giving users more flexibility for purchases. However, Apple later removed Synchrony from its support document, indicating the integration is not yet live.

This comes after Apple discontinued its Apple Pay Later service last year, which let customers split payments into four interest-free installments over six weeks.

Apple has since shifted to partnering with third-party providers like Affirm, Klarna, and now Synchrony for similar installment options.

The update was first spotted by MacRumors contributor Aaron Perris, but the removal suggests the feature is still in development.
