Samsung may soon add a new feature to its Galaxy smartwatches that could allow users to control their TVs using hand gestures.

What is Pointer Mode?

A new feature called “Pointer Mode” has been uncovered in the Samsung Wear OS SmartThings app.

This feature could let you control your Samsung TV by moving your wrist and fingers. The feature is still in development, and there’s no official release date yet.

How Does It Work?

The Pointer Mode can be activated by shaking your watch hand. From there, users can perform different gestures to control the TV.

For example, a “pinch” gesture will select options, while making a fist will take you back to the home screen.

Moving your wrist back and forth will play or pause the content, and rotating the bezel will scroll up or down on the TV. You can even move the cursor on the screen with wrist movements.

Which Devices Will Support It?

The feature is expected to be available on high-end Samsung watches, like the Galaxy Watch Ultra and Galaxy Watch 7.

However, it will also require a compatible Samsung TV, likely top models such as the Samsung S90C and S95D.

When Will It Be Available?

There is no clear timeline for when Pointer Mode will be available. The code for the feature has been found, but it doesn’t guarantee that the feature will launch soon or at all. Keep an eye out for future updates from Samsung.
