The Weeknd has sparked speculation about the end of his iconic persona with a series of mysterious billboards reading “The End Is Near” that have appeared worldwide.

These billboards, which feature fonts from the singer’s various musical eras, have been spotted in major cities such as Los Angeles, New York, Paris, London, Atlanta, and Melbourne.

The cryptic message has fans buzzing, especially after Tesfaye shared a post on December 30, 2024, referencing “8 beautiful chapters” in his career, accompanied by a visual of the billboards and a list of his albums.

The post highlighted his journey from his 2012 debut Trilogy to his upcoming sixth studio album, Hurry Up Tomorrow, set for release on January 24, 2025.

In a second post, Tesfaye shared a video showing the billboards on a digital display, further fueling the mystery. The singer has been teasing the release of Hurry Up Tomorrow, which is expected to complete the trilogy that began with After Hours (2020) and Dawn FM (2022).

He has already released singles from the album, including “Dancing in the Flames,” “Timeless” featuring Playboi Carti, and “São Paulo” with Anitta.

In addition to the album, Hurry Up Tomorrow will also be the focus of a psychological thriller film directed by Trey Edward Shults, starring Jenna Ortega and Barry Keoghan. The film is scheduled for release on May 16, 2025.

Tesfaye has previously hinted that Hurry Up Tomorrow might be his final album as The Weeknd.

In a May 2023 interview, he revealed that he is ready to shed his Weeknd persona and evolve into a new phase of his career, suggesting that the album would mark the end of an era for the character.
