Samsung is set to introduce the Camera Share app with One UI 7.0 (Android 15), a feature designed to enhance video calling experiences on Galaxy Book laptops.

Building on the Camera Sharing feature from One UI 6.1, which allowed Galaxy smartphones to act as webcams for Galaxy tablets, Camera Share expands this functionality to Galaxy Books.

With Camera Share, users will be able to use their Galaxy phone’s camera as a high-quality webcam for video calling apps on Galaxy Book laptops, improving the video quality of calls. Samsung plans to release the app next year, with an early look already available through sources like @GerwinvGiessen.

The app offers a simple user interface, allowing users to turn the feature on or off, view available devices, and log in with their Samsung account. Both the phone and laptop must be signed into the same Samsung account for Camera Share to function.

While the app should work with any software that supports webcam functionality, including Windows’ Camera app, the current version is still in development.

Users have reported some flickering issues with the camera, regardless of ambient lighting, indicating that the feature is still being fine-tuned. Although a Microsoft Store page for Camera Share already exists, it is currently inactive.

The app is expected to be released shortly after the Galaxy S25 launch in late January and will support the Galaxy S24 lineup and other devices eligible for the One UI 7 update.
