Apple recently added a highly-anticipated feature to its Apple TV 4K, making it even more appealing to home theater enthusiasts.

With the release of tvOS 18.2 in early December 2024, Apple TV owners can now adjust the aspect ratio of their display, a feature that was first announced at WWDC 2024 but was not available at launch.

This update is particularly exciting for users with home projectors or ultra-wide monitors. It allows them to tweak the picture settings to better fit their screens, creating a more immersive viewing experience.

The new software update brings several aspect ratio options, including 16:9, 21:9, 2.37:1, 2.39:1, 2.40:1, DCI 4K, and 32:9.

These settings are ideal for high-end cinema projectors, which often require more flexible aspect ratio adjustments than standard 16:9 screens.

To adjust the aspect ratio, Apple TV users can open the Settings app, go to “Video and Audio,” and enable “Wide Aspect Ratios.” Once enabled, they can select their preferred aspect ratio, including the new 21:9 setting for projectors.

This feature, now available in the free tvOS 18.2 update, is compatible with all Apple TV 4K and Apple TV HD models (1st generation and later).

The 2022 Apple TV 4K, which is smaller, faster, and more affordable than previous models, starts at $129.

With this update, Apple TV 4K continues to be a top choice for home theater enthusiasts, offering even more customization to enhance the viewing experience.
