Apple’s HomePod Update Makes Siri Smarter for Music Lovers

Apple recently released the HomePod 18.2 software update, bringing a much-needed feature to its smart speakers.

This update, which is now available, introduces a new way to interact with Siri when using Apple Music.

A Smarter Siri for Music Lovers
For HomePod and HomePod mini users, this update makes Siri more intuitive. Siri now supports “natural language search” for Apple Music, meaning you can ask for songs using more casual and flexible commands.

Instead of specifying artists or tracks, you can say things like “sad songs from the 90s,” “songs about the beach,” or “songs similar to Eminem.”

This makes it easier to find music based on mood, genre, decade, or activity.

How to Update Your HomePod
The update should automatically install if your iPhone or iPad is running iOS 18.2 or iPadOS 18.2. If you prefer to update manually, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Home app.
  2. Tap the More button.
  3. Go to Home Settings.
  4. Select Software Update.

Both the second-gen HomePod and HomePod mini are compatible with the update, which is available now.
