Levi Strauss & Co. has announced a new climate transition plan to cut emissions and pollution by 2050.
The plan focuses on three main areas:
- Improving Operations: Levi’s will integrate renewable energy solutions and energy-efficient technology into its operations.
- Collaborating with Suppliers: The company will work with global suppliers to invest in sustainable materials, promote eco-friendly cotton farming, and form climate-positive partnerships.
- Business Model Integration: Levi’s will incorporate climate strategies across its business with the help of climate experts and proactive policies.
The company has set both short- and long-term goals to reduce emissions, use renewable electricity, and minimize freshwater use in production.
Levi’s aims to achieve Net Zero by 2050 and will update its climate plan every three years, ensuring transparency and regular progress reports.
Jeffrey Hogue, Levi’s Chief Sustainability Officer, stated, “These steps will not only move us toward our Net Zero climate ambition by 2050 but also strengthen our business’s resilience to climate change.”
