Recent leaks revealing the design of Nintendo’s upcoming Switch 2 have led analysts to believe that the company is now eager to announce the console sooner than planned.
The leaks, including images from accessory companies taking pre-orders for Switch 2 add-ons, have shown what the console may look like, with key features like magnetic Joy-Con attachments and a new button on the right Joy-Con.
Industry analyst Serkan Toto, CEO of Kantan Games, suggested that Nintendo may no longer wait until the March 2025 deadline to unveil the Switch 2.
With sales of the original Switch declining and the leaks becoming increasingly detailed, Toto believes an early January announcement could be imminent.
The Switch 2 is expected to launch later in 2025, and fans are anticipating the release of Metroid Prime 4 on the new hardware.
Nintendo has also confirmed that the new console will be backwards compatible, allowing players to enjoy their existing Switch library.
