Levi’s has announced a new clothing collection inspired by Timothée Chalamet’s portrayal of Bob Dylan in the upcoming biopic A Complete Unknown.
The film, which explores Dylan’s shift from acoustic folk to electric rock in the 1960s, will be released in the US on December 25 and in the UK on January 17.
The Levi’s Vintage Clothing x A Complete Unknown collection features a jacket and jeans inspired by Chalamet’s look in the film, which mirrors Dylan’s iconic style from the ‘60s.
The collection includes a $1200 (£955) yellow tan leather jacket, complete with sheet music for “A Hard Rain’s a-Gonna Fall,” a replica cue card from the “Subterranean Homesick Blues” video, and a still of Chalamet wearing the jacket.
Also available is a pair of $495 (£395) jeans, featuring a D-shaped buckle belt, sheet music for “Girl From The North Country,” and a liner note quoting Dylan: “I’ll let you be in my dreams / If I can be in yours.”
Costume designer Arianne Phillips shared how Bob Dylan’s consistent use of Levi’s throughout his career influenced the design of the collection.
Paul O’Neill from Levi’s worked with Phillips to recreate the bootcut 501 jeans and Super Slim Levi’s jeans worn by Dylan in 1965.
Earlier this month, Chalamet embodied Dylan’s look at the A Complete Unknown premiere in New York, complete with facial hair, a leather jacket, and a grey scarf.
Chalamet spent years preparing for the role, learning 30 Dylan songs and working with multiple coaches. Dylan himself praised Chalamet’s performance, calling him a “brilliant actor.”
Levi’s Vintage Clothing x A Complete Unknown is a celebration of both Dylan’s legacy and the film’s portrayal of his journey, offering fans a chance to own a piece of music history.
