NVIDIA is set to launch its new GeForce RTX 50 “Blackwell” gaming GPUs in January 2025. The first model to hit retail shelves will be the GeForce RTX 5080 with 16 GB of GDDR7 memory, followed by the flagship RTX 5090 with 32 GB of memory.

The launch will begin shortly after CES 2025, with NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang presenting the new GPUs. The RTX 5080 is expected to offer impressive speeds of up to 32 Gbps, positioning it as a top performer in the market.

This marks a change from previous releases, where the 90-class GPU debuted first. The decision to launch the RTX 5080 first may be due to the success of the RTX 4090, which outperformed the RTX 4080 in sales.

Gamers can expect the RTX 5090 to follow shortly after, with a release expected by mid-February. The RTX 5090 will offer a significant upgrade over previous models, continuing NVIDIA’s dominance in the high-end gaming market.

The RTX 5080 will be available in both Founders Edition and partner variants, with listings already appearing online. The same will apply to the RTX 5090 when it arrives.

Key Specs (Preliminary):

  • RTX 5090: 32 GB GDDR7, 1792 GB/s bandwidth, 600W power.
  • RTX 5080: 16 GB GDDR7, 1024 GB/s bandwidth, 400W power.

Both GPUs are set to make a major impact in the gaming world as they push the limits of PC gaming performance. Stay tuned for more details as the launch approaches.
