A Drake look-alike contest in the rapper’s hometown of Toronto got an unexpected boost from the artist himself, who added $10,000 to the prize pot.
Upon hearing about the competition, Drake reached out to the contest organizer, Casuals Cakery, via Instagram, offering to contribute to the prize.
Drake’s message read, “I’m adding 10 bands to the look alike contest as the main prize,” which was shared by the bakery in a post that captured the excitement of the moment.
The organizer’s response was filled with shock and joy, expressing disbelief that the artist himself knew about the contest.
The “Drake Eras Lookalike Contest,” held at Toronto’s Apt 200 on December 14, focused on creativity and honoring Drake’s aesthetic.
Before Drake’s generous contribution, the winner’s prize included a “Certified Toronto Manz Pack,” which contained a bottle of Hennessy, a pack of Backwoods, and other items. After Drake’s involvement, the contest became even more thrilling for the contestants.
Drake confirmed his support by sharing footage from the event on Instagram Stories, commenting, “I love this city,” accompanied by crying-laughing emojis.
