Files by Google has launched a revamped PDF viewer for a more integrated and seamless experience, replacing the previous reliance on Google Drive.
What’s New?
- Top Bar Actions:
- Star documents
- Share files easily
- Enhanced Overflow Menu:
- Open with
- Move to trash
- Move to / Copy to
- Move to Safe folder
- File info
- Find in file
Previously, many of these actions were only accessible outside the viewer.
Old vs. New Experience
- Old Actions: Limited to Find, Save to Drive, Send file, Download, Print, and Feedback.
- New Experience: Adds Safe folder access, detailed file info, and improved navigation.
Additional Notes
- The floating action button (FAB) gets a refreshed icon, but its functionality remains unchanged.
- The update is rolling out gradually with version 1.5687.x via a server-side push.
