A digital artist has gone viral after sharing the first sketches of the official Netflix Arcane posters for Netflix France.
These early images offer a fascinating look at the design process behind the popular animated series.
After Netflix’s AI-modified Arcane poster sparked controversy, these original sketches bring attention back to the traditional skills involved in creating movie posters.
Name Jr, founder of Iconics Agency, posted his initial designs for two Arcane posters. The sketches may look simple, but they reveal the thought and planning behind the posters, particularly the composition.
In one of the designs, Ekko is placed at the center, and a broken cog appears in the background.
While these rough sketches look basic, they show the foundation of the poster’s design. The artist focused on where key elements should go to catch the viewerโs eye.
As the designs developed, some choices changed, and a second poster featuring Isha was created with help from Ilyasse L.
Jr, who has also worked on posters for Up, Kung Fu Panda 4, WALL-E, and Oppenheimer, offers a glimpse into the creative process that goes into making such iconic designs.
