The December 2024 Feature Drop brings the Pixel Camera 9.7 update, introducing a new “Quick access controls” feature.

This update returns certain controls like white balance, brightness, and shadows to the viewfinder for quicker adjustments, improving user experience.

These sliders were previously hidden behind a button tap in the last UI redesign, but now, users can adjust them directly by tapping the edges of the screen.

In addition to the UI changes, the update brings Dual Screen Portrait Mode for the Pixel Fold and Pixel 9 Pro Fold, allowing subjects to preview shots.

The Pixel 9 Pro Fold also gets a new “Joy” character from Inside Out for the external display’s Made You Look feature.

Other improvements include support for Ultra HDR capture on Instagram and the integration of Snapchat with the system’s Photo Picker. Pixel Camera 9.7 is now rolling out via the Google Play Store.
