OpenAI is gearing up for a busy holiday season with 12 days of announcements, kicking off December 5th.

The tech company plans to reveal new features, products, and demos, including the long-awaited text-to-video AI tool Sora and a new reasoning model.

CEO Sam Altman confirmed the festive “shipmas” period during The New York Times’ DealBook conference, promising daily reveals.

Social media teasers from OpenAI employees hint at exciting releases, including the launch of Sora, which has been in alpha testing with artists throughout 2024.

The tool allows users to generate videos and is expected to be fully available by year’s end.

The timing of Sora’s release follows Google’s launch of its generative AI video model, Veo, which is currently in a private preview.

OpenAI is also rumored to be introducing a new Santa-inspired voice for ChatGPT as part of the announcements.
