Fans eagerly awaiting The Witcher 4 can expect a monumental leap in quality, according to CD Projekt Red. Speaking to Eurogamer, Charles Tremblay, the company’s VP of technology, promised that the next installment will surpass The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 in every way.
“The next game we do will not be smaller, and it will not be worse,” said Tremblay. “It will be better, bigger, greater… For us, it’s unacceptable [to repeat past mistakes].”
This marks a bold commitment from the studio, especially after the rocky launch of Cyberpunk 2077 in 2020.
However, the significant improvements made to Cyberpunk since, including its 2023 overhaul, suggest CD Projekt Red has learned from its missteps.
The Witcher 3, known for its sprawling open world and rich storytelling, set a high bar with its approximately 50-hour campaign.
Tremblay’s assurance that The Witcher 4 will exceed those standards has fans intrigued. While the game remains without a release date, CD Projekt’s vision for its next major RPG seems ambitious: a game “bigger and better” than ever before.
