Google Assistant Quick Phrases Bug Frustrates Pixel Users

Google Assistant Quick Phrases

Google Pixel users are encountering a bug in the “Quick Phrases” feature that lets you answer calls or stop alarms without saying “Hey Google.”

The issue causes the Quick Phrases bubble, like “Say ‘Stop'” or “Say ‘Snooze,'” to linger on the screen even after the command is completed.

Who’s Affected?

The bug has been reported on devices running Android 15’s stable release, QPR1 Beta 3.1, and QPR2 Beta 1. It might also affect other apps like Gboard.

Temporary Fixes:

  1. Disable Quick Phrases:
    • Go to Google app > Settings > Google Assistant > Quick Phrases.
  2. Restart the Phone:
    • A restart can temporarily resolve the issue, but the bug may return.

Cause and Next Steps:

The issue appears tied to the Google app (versions 15.46 stable and 15.47 beta), which powers Google Assistant. Fixing the problem will likely require an app or server-side update.

This marks a rare setback for a feature that has remained largely unchanged since its debut on the Pixel 6, with the last major update extending call controls to the Pixel Buds Pro. Google has yet to announce an official resolution timeline.
