ChatGPT Search Now Available to Free Users, But Not for Long?

OpenAI’s ChatGPT Search feature has now begun rolling out to free users, but there’s a catch.

While it initially became available to paid users, including those with the ChatGPT Plus plan, the feature was unexpectedly made accessible to some free users, only for it to be temporarily pulled again.

The rollout, though, seems intentional this time, as certain US-based free users have confirmed its availability.

ChatGPT Search allows users to perform web searches directly within the ChatGPT interface, enhancing its functionality.

Additionally, OpenAI has released extensions for Chrome and Edge, enabling users to set ChatGPT Search as their default search engine.

The rollout also coincides with the introduction of Advanced Voice Mode on the web app, which is now available for all paid users.

Despite some hiccups with the rollout, OpenAI continues to work on expanding its offerings, with ChatGPT Search expected to become available to more users, including those on the free tier, in the coming months.

However, as with many new features, it’s a gradual process, and availability may vary by region.
