Samsung’s latest flagship phone owners may have to wait longer than expected for Android 15, despite growing cybersecurity concerns. The company plans to delay the update until the Galaxy S25’s release in 2025.

While Google Pixel users already enjoy Android 15’s new security features, and Chinese manufacturers are rolling out updates, Samsung’s schedule shows significant delays:

  • Galaxy S24 users may get a beta version next month
  • Galaxy S23 and S22 users face longer delays
  • Galaxy S21 users might not receive the update at all

This news comes as Samsung warns about rising cybercrime threats. The company recently revealed details about its Cyber Threat Intelligence task force, which works to identify and prevent security risks.

The delay is particularly notable because Android 15 includes important security improvements like:

  • Enhanced theft protection
  • Better cellular network defense
  • AI-powered threat detection

Samsung has confirmed that One UI 7, their version of Android 15, will debut first on the S25 series before reaching other devices. This means even recent S24 buyers, who spent up to $1500 on their phones, must wait for the update.

The timing becomes more pressing as Google has already started early development of Android 16.
