Apple M4 Max Matches High-End Gaming Graphics Cards

Apple’s newest computer chip, the M4 Max, has matched the power of high-end desktop graphics cards in recent tests. The chip scored better than Nvidia’s RTX 4070 desktop card in a standard graphics test called Blender.

The M4 Max chip comes with up to 16 CPU cores and 40 GPU cores. In the Blender test, it scored about 5,200 points. This score beats the RTX 4070 desktop card and comes close to the RTX 4080 laptop version, which scored 5,300 points.

The M4 Max shows 25% better speed in both single-core and multi-core tests compared to older models. Gaming performance has improved up to 55%.

What makes these results special is that the M4 Max uses much less power than the Nvidia cards it competes with. However, Nvidia’s upcoming RTX 50-series cards will likely be more powerful when they release.

The M4 Max still leads in two key areas: power efficiency and performance when not plugged in. These features are especially important for laptop users.
