WhatsApp Rolls Out Voice Message Transcription Feature

WhatsApp is introducing a new feature that transcribes voice messages into text, making it easier to stay connected without needing to listen to audio clips.

The feature will roll out globally to Android and iOS users in the coming weeks.

How It Works

Voice message transcripts are generated directly on the device, ensuring that “no one else, not even WhatsApp, can hear or read your personal messages.”

By default, the feature is disabled but can be turned on by navigating to Settings > Chats > Voice message transcripts.

Supported Languages

Initially, Android users will have access to English, Portuguese, Spanish, Russian, and Hindi. iOS users will enjoy broader language support, with plans to expand further in the coming months.

Why It Matters

This feature bridges the gap between convenience and accessibility. While voice messages are easy to record, they can be inconvenient to listen to in noisy environments or on the go. Transcriptions provide the best of both worlds, allowing users to read voice messages quickly.

This update adds another layer of functionality to WhatsApp, appealing to users who prefer text communication over audio.
