Samsung Shows Off RCS Messaging Features as iOS Joins the Party

Samsung has been pushing the benefits of RCS (Rich Communication Services) messaging for years, and now, with iOS 18.1, Apple users can join the platform.

This messaging standard, designed as a successor to SMS and MMS, offers features like easy reactions, group chat improvements, and high-quality photo sharing, making it closer to what you find on popular messaging apps like WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger.

For RCS messaging to work between Android and iOS users, both must use Google Messages with RCS enabled.

The “Send photos faster” option can also be used to adjust image quality settings. Unlike other messaging platforms, RCS doesn’t require a social media account — just a phone number.

Samsung has been showcasing the advantages of this cross-platform messaging system, celebrating the integration of RCS into iOS, which now enhances communication between Android and iPhone users alike.
