PlayStation Portal Now Lets You Stream PS5 Games from the Cloud

Sony PlayStation Portal

Sony is rolling out a major update for the PlayStation Portal, adding cloud streaming capabilities.

Initially, the device could only stream games from your PS5 over Wi-Fi, but now you can stream select PS5 games directly from the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog.

This feature is available in beta, but you’ll need a PlayStation Plus Premium subscription to access it. For 720p streaming, a 7 Mbps connection is required, while 1080p will need at least 13 Mbps.

However, there are some limitations. You won’t be able to stream PS4 or PS3 games, and certain PlayStation Plus features like Game Trials and 3D audio are not supported with this update. Child accounts also can’t use cloud streaming.

The beta is available in multiple countries, including the US, UK, Canada, and several European nations.

In addition to cloud streaming, the update brings audio improvements, including a lower minimum volume and new settings for PlayStation Link devices
