Apple is reportedly preparing to unveil a new iPhone model in September 2025, called the iPhone 17 Air.
This device is expected to replace the current Plus version, which has seen less impressive sales compared to the rest of the iPhone lineup. Initially thought to be called the iPhone 17 Slim, it has now been tipped to have an incredibly slim profile.
According to a note from the Hong Kong-based investment bank Haitong, the iPhone 17 Air could be as thin as 6 mm. If true, this would make the iPhone 17 Air the thinnest iPhone ever, beating the iPhone 6, which measured 6.9 mm in thickness.
While much about the device remains unclear, early reports suggest that the iPhone 17 Air will feature a 6.6-inch display and an A19 chip, with the standard (non-Pro) variant leading the charge.
Additionally, the device could have a single rear camera. This decision might seem like a step back, but analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has noted that Apple is prioritizing an innovative form factor design, rather than a flagship-level camera setup.
As details continue to surface, the iPhone 17 Air is shaping up to be a bold move by Apple, with its ultra-slim design potentially setting a new standard for the industry.
