Spotify is finally set to roll out its long-awaited “Super Premium” tier, featuring lossless audio, a move that puts it on par with rivals like Apple Music and Tidal.

Announced in 2021 but delayed until now, the high-fidelity streaming option will cost an additional $5 on top of the current Premium subscription.

What’s in the “Super Premium” Package?

The tier isn’t just about pristine audio quality. Spotify plans to include additional features designed to attract music enthusiasts and reward loyal users.

Although CEO Daniel Ek didn’t share an official launch date, he expressed confidence that Spotify’s vast user base would embrace the new offering.

Spotify’s Continued Growth

Despite delays in the lossless rollout, Spotify’s financial performance is thriving:

  • 640 million monthly active users (+14 million QoQ).
  • 252 million paid subscribers (+6 million QoQ).
  • Revenue: €3.99 billion, a 19% YoY increase.
  • Net profit: €300 million, a remarkable 362% YoY rise.
  • Premium membership revenue: 24% growth.

Why Lossless Audio Matters

Lossless audio delivers sound quality that’s closer to the original recording, appealing to audiophiles and anyone seeking a richer listening experience.

As competitors like Tidal and Amazon Music already offer similar options, Spotify’s entry into this space is expected to be a game-changer, leveraging its strong brand loyalty and user-friendly interface.

Stay tuned for updates on the official release date and feature set of Spotify’s “Super Premium” plan.
