Play Store to Add Download Resume Feature

12

Google is developing a new feature called Smart Resume that will allow users to resume canceled app downloads from the Play Store within 24 hours of cancellation. The feature was discovered in version 43.5.26-31 of the Play Store app.

Key details:

  • Downloads can be resumed up to 24 hours after cancellation
  • Works with apps up to 2GB in size
  • Requires about 5GB of free storage
  • Temporary files are stored to enable resumption
  • Feature works through notifications

The Smart Resume feature could particularly benefit users with poor internet connections or limited mobile data plans, allowing them to pause and resume downloads when better connectivity is available.
