Netflix has announced that the highly anticipated fourth season of Outer Banks will premiere this Fall, with October being the likely release month. The news came with a playful teaser featuring the main cast at their new Kildare County Surf Shop, directed by Pope (Jonathan Daviss).
The upcoming season, consisting of 10 episodes, will follow the Pogues on a new treasure hunt involving Blackbeard’s lost gold. The first episode, titled “Blackbeard Hunt,” hints at the adventure to come. This follows the 18-month time skip after the events of Season 3, where the group finally tasted victory in El Dorado.
While the core cast returns, including Chase Stokes, Madelyn Cline, and Madison Bailey, new characters will join the adventure. Notable additions include J. Anthony Crane, Pollyanna McIntosh, and Brianna Brown. Rigo Sanchez joins as Lightner, a dangerous stranger set to challenge the Pogues, while Mia Challis will play Ruthie, a character closely linked to Topper.
Co-creator Josh Pate promises a balance between the show’s signature action and emotional depth, stating, “You want the crazy jumping[-off-ships] stuff, but you want an emotional realism.” The new season aims to explore the ripple effects of previous events on the characters.
Filming has wrapped, overcoming delays caused by the 2023 Hollywood strikes. Fans can currently stream the first three seasons on Netflix while awaiting the Fall premiere of Season 4.
