33-Year-Old Man Taken Into Custody for Threatening TikTok’s LA Office

A 33-year-old man has been arrested and charged with making criminal threats after allegedly targeting TikTok’s Los Angeles headquarters. The incident led to an emergency response and the temporary evacuation of the building.

Joseph Jay Juant Mayuyo was taken into custody on October 4, 2025, after being identified by the Culver City Police Department (CCPD). He faces two felony counts of criminal threats, according to officials.

The threats were reportedly made on October 3, 2025, via an undisclosed social media platform. TikTok employees quickly reported the messages to authorities, prompting a swift response. As a precaution, security evacuated the building while CCPD began their investigation.

Following the threat, CCPD obtained arrest and search warrants for Mayuyo’s residence. A team of officers, including crisis negotiators, engaged with Mayuyo for more than 90 minutes before he voluntarily exited his home and was taken into custody.

Mayuyo was booked at the Culver City Police Department Jail and remains in custody with bail set at $100,000. Officials also recovered items of “evidentiary value” during the search of his residence.

CCPD Chief Jason Sims emphasized the department’s commitment to safety, stating, “We take all threats seriously and investigate them thoroughly.”

No injuries were reported in connection with the incident, and the investigation is ongoing. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office has not yet commented on the case.
