Google is working on a new feature for Android that will notify users when their device automatically updates its time zone.
This feature, which is expected to be included in Android 16, aims to make it easier for travelers to keep track of time zone changes.
Currently, Android devices automatically adjust their time zones based on your location. While this is convenient, it can be confusing, especially when you’re traveling or connected to Wi-Fi networks like those on flights, where the time zone might switch multiple times in a short period.
With the new “Time zone change” notification feature, Android will notify you whenever your time zone has been updated automatically.
This notification will include information about which time zone the device has switched to, making it easier to stay on top of time changes during travel.
The feature is currently in development in Android 16 Beta 1 and can be accessed through Settings > System > Date & Time, where users will find a toggle to enable or disable the notifications.
There is no official timeline for when this feature will be available to all users, but it’s likely to be included in the upcoming releases of Android 16.
This addition could be especially helpful for those who often find themselves adjusting to multiple time zones and need clear, timely information about time changes.
