Taylor Swift’s 1989 album has just reached a major milestone on the Billboard 200. The pop album has now spent 520 weeks on the chart, making it the first Swift album to reach a full decade on the ranking.
1989 originally came out in 2014 and quickly became one of Swift’s most popular albums, featuring hits like “Shake It Off” and “Blank Space.” Over the years, its popularity dropped as Taylor encouraged fans to listen to her re-recorded versions, starting with 1989 (Taylor’s Version) in 2023.
Now, with Swift fully in control of her music, fans are once again embracing the original 1989. The album has returned to the Billboard 200 at No. 73, with 13,700 equivalent units sold in the past week. Of those, around 2,500 were pure album purchases.
This milestone also pushes 1989 far ahead of Swift’s second-longest-charting album, Reputation, which has now spent 350 weeks on the chart.
Adding to Swift’s success, 1989 (Taylor’s Version) is also climbing again. The re-recorded version has now spent 84 weeks on the Billboard 200, currently rising to No. 61.
With both versions of 1989 performing strongly, Swift continues to show her lasting power in the music industry.
