Judge Schedules Sentencing for Sean Combs After Split Verdict

U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian has scheduled the sentencing of music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs for October 3, 2025. Combs faces up to 20 years in prison after being convicted on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. He was acquitted of the more serious charges of racketeering and sex trafficking.

The jury delivered a split verdict, finding Combs guilty on the lesser charges but not guilty on the racketeering and sex trafficking counts. Legal experts say the verdict reflects the jury’s careful evaluation of evidence rather than a simple judgment based on Combs’ public image.

Judge Subramanian denied bail pending sentencing, citing concerns over Combs’ history of “violent personal relationships” noted during the trial. Combs is currently detained at the Brooklyn Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC), where conditions have been described by a federal judge as dangerous and harsh. The judge granted Combs credit for 10 months already served at the facility.

Prosecutors are seeking a prison sentence of 51 to 63 months, while the defense argues for a much lighter sentence of 21 to 27 months. The judge noted a “great divide” between the parties on sentencing recommendations and will rely heavily on a presentence investigation report.

Although the transportation charges carry a maximum penalty of 10 years each, Combs, as a first-time offender, is expected to receive a lesser sentence. Following the verdict, reports say fellow inmates applauded Combs upon his return to detention.
